Let us see light! LED Light therapy treatments, developed from NASA to treat Navy Seals with wound healing and muscle regeneration, has finally found its way into the aesthetic arena to beautify faces!

So, what is LED Light Therapy?

LED stands for Light-Emitting Diode and our device is unique in also emitting infrared light when activated. The light given off comes in different wavelengths of colors which provide response to collagen, elastin and killing P. acnes bacteria.  Our skin and tissues have the ability to absorb light and convert it into energy, similar to the way plants absorb energy from the UV rays emitted by the sun. Unlike plants, however, we are unable to safely absorb sunlight without causing damage to our skin.  By emitting UV-free beneficial light rays, our device helps to energize cells while simultaneously stimulates the body’s natural ability to regenerate cells and build new proteins.

A Colorful Experience: What can I treat?

BRUISING, WRINKLES, SEASONAL AFFECTIVE DISORDER

As I mentioned before, it’s pretty simple: different color lights are used to treat different things and the synergy of more than one light (in our practice, red and blue) can target multiple concerns at once. The Red LED light is the most “universal” because it accelerates healing and stimulates collagen, elastin and other proteins. Because of the increased circulation, oxygen and nutrients are delivered directly to the tissues in need of repair.   Our device gained FDA-approval for the treatment of fine lines and wrinkles on the face as well as to aid in pain relief and wound healing. This is another reason why the device is being used by doctors to diminish bruising and swelling and accelerate the healing process post-treatment (imagine getting filler and being able to avoid bruising!)

ACNE

The blue light is one of our secret weapons in the fight against acne because it has the ability to destroy breakout-causing bacteria! The Blue Light is FDA-cleared to treat mild to moderate acne in both teenagers and adults. The waves of this light penetrate down to the sebaceous (oil) glands in the skin, killing bacteria from the inside out.  The result: less frequent and milder breakouts. We utilize red and blue lights together in order to target active breakouts and the redness associated with them. You’ll leave with a dramatically visible improvement in the appearance of your skin!

So what should I expect to experience?

Your face will be situated just a few inches under a panel of warm, bright lights for 20 minutes. Those with light eyes may opt for protective eyewear. We’ve received zero complaints of the light temperature being too hot and most people only feel slightly flushed after the treatment is complete.  The standalone LED treatment is quick, too! You’ll be in and out in 20 minutes and on your way to glowy skin that will be the envy of all of your friends!

Who should not have an LED treatment?

Women who are or could be pregnant, anyone who suffers from Melasma or those currently on a light-sensitizing antibiotic should consult with their physician prior to this treatment.
